Beautiful Zinnias Oil Painting Workshop with Paulina Swietliczko

10AM-4PM with a lunch break - drinks provided, but please bring your own lunch. Beginners welcome!
$175 (plus materials)
In this one-day workshop, we are going to focus on painting colorful summer zinnias in the garden.
The class will start with an introduction and a demo that will be followed by the painting session in the garden. The goal will be to capture the flowers in bloom in one shot. Every participant will receive individual critique and instructions tailored to each person’s needs.
We’ll talk about color, value and composition and create an impression of the flowers without focusing too much on the details.
The class will be held outside, weather permitting, or in the workshop if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
The paintings will be finished in one or two sessions, so please bring an additional painting panel, or canvas in case you finish early.
Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended. Please bring a sun hat with a brim or sunglasses to protect your eyes, sunblock, tick/mosquito repellent & a snack.
This workshop will be limited to a group of 8 people.
Paulina Swietliczko’s work is inspired by everyday life, people, objects and the landscape. Native to Poland, she holds an MFA in Painting and Lithography from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, Poland where she studied with Rajmund Ziemski and Jaroslaw Modzelewski. In 2012, she moved to Virginia from California, where she was a community college art instructor and an artist in residence at the Fresno Art Museum.
Currently, she lives in Roanoke where she paints, teaches art in her downtown studio and is involved in the local art scene. In the summer of 2024, Paulina was a Four Pillars artist in residence at Mount Gretna School of Art in Pennsylvania.
