Join artist and architect Kevin Deck for a lively, hands-on introduction to urban sketching.

Whether you’re brand new or already filling sketchbooks, this workshop offers a welcoming space to explore drawing on location.

The day begins with an interactive demo and warm-up session where Kevin shares simple techniques for sketching buildings, streets, and everyday scenes. You’ll see how loose lines, a touch of color, and observation come together to tell visual stories—no perfection required.

In the afternoon, we’ll head outside for a sketch crawl through Lexington’s streets, putting ideas into practice. Expect plenty of encouragement, experimentation, and personal guidance along the way.

Come ready to try, play, and discover your own sketching style.

All skill levels welcome. Bring your own supplies—materials list provided.

Artist, architect, and lifelong maker, Kevin Deck creates work inspired by the rhythms of everyday life and the enduring connections between people and their environments.

For more than four decades, he shaped communities through architecture and design. Today, that same sensitivity to place, scale, and human experience informs his visual art. His pieces often emerge from a fascination with pattern, memory, and the unexpected beauty found in ordinary moments.

Kevin’s work encourages viewers to slow down, look closer, and discover meaning in places they may have previously overlooked. Through thoughtful composition and a spirit of exploration, he seeks to create art that is both personal and universally relatable.
