EWE, ME & CHARCUTERIE WORKSHOP
Ewe, Me & Charcuterie Workshop
Two Saturdays, November 7th & November 14th
11/7: 4-6:30PM and 11/14: 4-6PM
with Judd Jarvis of Jarvis Ceramics & Razzbourne Farms
$150 - all materials included
As we head into the holiday season, learn how to make a ceramic charcuterie board to use for hosting or as a gift!
Join us for a two-part workshop for two consecutive Saturday afternoons. First, on November 7th, come join Judd of Jarvis Ceramics in his studio where you will design and create your own slab-style ceramic charcuterie board.
The hand building area will be yours from 4-6:30 pm, with plenty of flexibility to work at your own pace after Judd helps demo a few ideas. We will shape, mold, and press clay slabs together to create a one-of-a-kind ceramic charcuterie board designed by you. Go organic, structured, playful, or sculptural. Add folds, dips, and small indents for cheeses, olives, jams, and your favorite condiments.
We will provide all materials, and you are encouraged to bring botanicals or textured objects from home to press into the clay and create unique surface impressions. Leaves, herbs, fabric, lace, or any flat, textured keepsake works beautifully. Press them all for a textured statement piece, press none for the minimal vibe or go somewhere in between, whatever style speaks to you. Use letter stamps and other tools in the hand building studio as well to further personalize your board.
Sip drinks, enjoy light snacks, and settle in for a relaxed, creative afternoon. You will pick your glaze color & Judd will fire & glaze everything so that when you come back the following Saturday, November 14th, you will be ready for part two!
Emily and Amanda of Razzbourne Farms will bring nuts, crackers, fruit & meats and of course a sampling of their farmstead cheeses. They will guide everyone in how to best plate your boards. There will be a board built for us to graze on with a few samples to take home. Additional cheese products will be available to purchase afterwards.
The workshop will be limited to 8 students, ages 21 and older, and each student will get plenty of personal attention.
Specific Schedule
November 7th: 4-6:30PM - Make ceramic charcuterie boards with Judd and enjoy snacks & drinks - he will bisque fire & glaze the boards for you to pick up on the 14th.

Judd Jarvis is a Virginia-based ceramics artist and educator who explores the tactile and visceral qualities of clay and glazes through functional and sculptural forms. The surrounding environment, textures, patterns, colors, and the human influence on the landscape all play into his work.
He received his MFA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln on a graduate teaching fellowship in 2003, and his BFA from the University of Miami in 1999 after starting his undergraduate education in his hometown of Ottumwa, Iowa at local Indian Hills Community College.
Judd has assisted teaching classes at Penland School of Craft and Arrowmont, given artist talks, taught clay classes & workshops, and exhibited his work across Virginia and the Midwest. Soon after graduate school, Judd moved to Virginia where he maintained a personal studio and taught wheel and glaze chemistry classes in a local studio in Charlottesville. Judd participated in the Artisans Studio Tour for several years begun in 1994 by a group of Charlottesville area artisans to enhance the community's awareness of professional artisans living and working in the region. Having recently moved to the Shenandoah Valley in beautiful Lexington, VA with his artist wife, he can focus again on teaching and the further exploration of his work. Along with a variety of classes in their renovated horse barn, he is offering raku firings and plans to build a wood-fired kiln for him & his students to learn in.
