Cheers! Ceramic Tumbler Set Workshop
with Stephen Palmer
Saturday,April 18th, 10-4
$165
In this workshop students will learn a new technique for creating two slab-built tumblers and a holding tray. They will expand their knowledge of different ways of finishing the surface of the piece by using texture rollers, layering of underglazes, and stenciling to create a dynamic surface design. We will discuss size and proportion and the idea of what makes a set. At the end of the workshop, the student will have a finished piece and the skills and hopefully the inspiration to continue making more art.
Add on for those that wish at the end of the workshop: Join Stephen visiting a local establishment to celebrate our success!
This workshop is designed for anyone with a working knowledge of the basic techniques of creating a hand-built piece.

Stephen Palmer received his B.F.A. from Rhode Island College, and continued his study of sculpture in Italy at the Tuscan Renaissance Center. As a member of the South County Art Association in RI and now at City Clay, in Charlottesville, VA, Stephen continues to explore the many forms and functions of clay. Through teaching, he hopes to share and ignite the same passion and excitement in his students that he has for the ceramic form.
To protect our kiln, clay must be from our shop. We have our own studio glazes for you to use. We do not allow any other glazes or underglazes on pots we are to fire for you. You are welcome to bring your own tools, but beginner tools will be provided.
