with Stephen Palmer
Saturday,February 28th, 10-4

In this workshop students will learn how to hand build a square pitcher. Students will expand their knowledge about different ways of finishing the surface of their piece by using stencils and layering underglaze colors on the clay to create a dynamic surface design. We will discuss size and proportion to ensure that your pieces work as a whole unit. At the end of the workshop, students will have a finished piece ready to be fired, the skills and hopefully the inspiration to continue making more art!
BYOL (bring your own lunch). Drinks will be provided.

Stephen Palmer received his B.F.A. from Rhode Island College, and continued his study of sculpture in Italy at the Tuscan Renaissance Center. As a member of the South County Art Association in RI and now at City Clay, in Charlottesville, VA, Stephen continues to explore the many forms and functions of clay. Through teaching, he hopes to share and ignite the same passion and excitement in his students that he has for the ceramic form.
To protect our kiln, clay must be from our shop. We have our own studio glazes for you to use. We do not allow any other glazes or underglazes on pots we are to fire for you. You are welcome to bring your own tools, but beginner tools will be provided.
